9BAR TAKES TO THE SEAS
We have heard across the ocean that Helena and Richard are doing well in the talisker atlantic challenge.
They tell us the 9bar we supplied have been invaluable in helping maintain their general energy levels - expecially after Christmas when basic reserves get depleted.
9Bar climbs a mountain
20 intrepid explorers have conquered Mount Kilimanjaro for a number of different charities such as Asthma UK and The AMECA trust with 9bar at their side to kep their stamina going. The majority of the challengers are students of Cardiff University. 9Bar helped them on thier long and arduous journey to the summit of the highest peak in Africa and keep them going as they completed other voluntary tasks such as hospital and school building medical with students administering aid to local people.
Swimming
Kay Hughes is part of a relay team swimming the English Channel -6 members each swimming an hour in turn until reached France. Kay is a big 9bar fan and found them a great energy boost in very bad conditions.
Kay told us "Conditions were very good for first 9 hours but then the wind, tide and currents decided to battle against us and our earlier predicted time of 12 hours became impossible. We battled on and reached French "soil" in 14 hrs 25 mins 27 secs."
Kay is 51 years old and only became "sporty" in the last 10 years which just goes to show its all down to inspiration and determination. Kay thinks 9-BARS are delicious, easy to digest and a great energy boost-all important factors in endurance sport and particularly in relay swimming when you have to eat between swims.
She said "Thanks for 9-bars help with my Channel swim. I will definitely be taking them again on my next venture, whatever and whenever that will be!" we will be happy to help.

9bars were given to Team Cruachan who participated in the 2010 Adidas Terrex 96 hour Expedition Adventure Race based in Keswick - Team Cruachan finished 18th out of 32 and have qualified for the World Championships 2011! They told us "It was a tough 4 day race; with only 4 hours sleep in 96 hours, all of us suffering from hypothermai and exhaustion at various points and even having 20 minutes sleep in a public toilet. However, we finished we all worked well as a team and we remain friends at the end of it too. this was the biggest and longest race of my life. It was also the most challenging thing I have ever done - both physically and mentally, with my body and mind being pushed to its limits. We all enjoyed the Nine Bars - the guys had never heard of them before, but we all ate them beofre, during and after the race and they were a really good alternative to all the processed food and energy gels/bars".

Triathlon
9bar soothes those tears
9Bar helped fuel contestants in this years Elveden Tearjerker Triathlon. Organiser Ruth told us "Thank you so much for supplying the energy bars for our Triathlon, they went down a storm! Many commented on how great they tasted compared to other bars which taste so artificial. All participants said how tough they found the course, which was exactly what we aimed for."
9Bar at Varsity Triathlon
Oxford and Cambridge University Triathlon Clubs got an extra treat in the form of 9Bars at the Varsity triathlon match at Grendon sprint triathlon in May. Varsity is held every year and aims to give Oxbridge triathletes the chance to show each other who is best, as well as trying to encourage people to get involved in the sport! More than 60 students took part, some of them seasoned triathletes, and others doing their first ever triathlon competition. Alex Young and November 9Bar Star Lucy Gossage from Cambridge won the individual men’s and ladies’ races, whilst the Oxford Club had great depth and managed to win the team competitions over all. Everyone had a great day, helped by some great weather, a bit of friendly Oxbridge rivalry, and a 9Bar bonus to top it all off!
Endurance Athlete Diane Pratt has suffered many years of ill health with Ulcerative Colitis but is determined not to let it effect her life. Her condition led to her discovery of 9Bar and she says "I have just tried my first 9-bar and am totally in love. The taste and texture are amazing and the carob is some of the best dairy free ''chocolate.'' In October Diane is going to complete 78.6 miles 3 marathons over 3 days by running and crawling pitting my mental and physical prowess against some of the wildest coastline in Britain so we have made sure she has plenty of 9bars to keep her going.

9Bar fuels the ladies
Anyone entering the the Deva Divas ladies only sprint triathlon will get free 9Bars to help keep them going. Deva Divas is - as it says - a ladies only race specifically aimed at novice ladies. We get ladies who haven't ridden a bike since they were children, ladies who can't swim at all and need to learn - we also get ladies who have maybe been, for example, runners and want to try out something a bit different. They all come along - different ages, sizes and from a myriad of backgrounds......most seem to get hooked. We do find that some ladies put Divas in their calendar and sometimes that is the only triathlon they do! See events page for details

We like to use 9Bars because they are easilly digestable, have a well balanced level of nutrition, don't make athletes feel sick when eaten on the move and most important, they taste really good.' We've been issuing them to all the Challengers who take part in our events for almost ten years and they just seem to get better as time goes on.Thank you 9Bar!

9Bar supporting amateur ultra runner Neil Bryant with sponsored kit and 9bars
I am thrilled to be getting support from 9Bar as I eat so many! I eat 9bars during training runs of over 1 and a half hours and for races. In endurance races I tend to eat one every hour which seems to keep my energy levels high enough to keep going for anything up to 40 hours continuously. They work for me as their protein / carb ratio is good and they taste great. I just don't seem to get bored of them! In fact I find myself looking forward to each one I eat.

9Bar continuing support in ultra running events
We had a great season this year with two very successful events in Mongolia and both Scottish events. We're looking forward to building on these next year and branching into the jungles of Indonesia as well. Wholebake bars continue to be ever popular and are the sole choice of energy snacks for possibly the UK's best ultra runners. Looking forward to your involvement in our mongolian plans next year.
David Scott
As an expedition organiser and veteran of numerous ultramarathon events I
have, like so many others, struggled to find an 'on the move' snack that
is
nutritious, palatable and above all something to look forward to during
long
stretches on the trail. Wholebake 9bars tick all the right boxes. Not
only
are they nutritious and packed with calories while being lightweight they
are a pleasure to eat.

9Bar keeps vegan Lisa on the move
9bar has supplied runner Lisa Gawthorne with 9Bars as she is such a big fan. Lisa says "I have been running for about 4 years and then last year I was asked to join Liverpool Pembroke Sefton Team, and my running times have improved since really taking on 9 bars which are really useful protein sources for me as a Vegan. It can be somewhat challenging at the best of times to deliver the right nutrients but when you are a vegan you naturally have less choices and so I have found 9 bars the perfect solutions, I buy them religiously on a weekly basis, pack them in my sports bags and take them 1.5 hours before my race and I seem to deliver!
Over the last year my 5k time has reduced from 21.34 to 19.40 which I am really impressed with! My 10k time has also reduced to 43.57 from the 46 min mark a year ago. I have generally felt these bars really do deliver and having tried many nutrient enhanced products on the market, I can confirm that 9 bars are my favourite - they taste absolutely gorgeous and they actually work! I am looking forward to using them throughout the summer to help my track times come down and I am sure they will be my perfect partner for the grueling cross country season in the winter time. Keep up the good work guys!" Thanks Lisa

9bar supports The Charity Challenge team at Airbus - This year, Airbus employees raised money for The Great Western Air Ambulance by cycling from Bristol to Hamburg and 9bar supplied enough 9bars and more to help them in their quest. Thet contacted us because they were already big fans of 9bar and for this they provided us with valuable energy during the trip and were extremely tasty! During the ride we would stop at regular intervals to take on extra drinks and food, it was during the handing out of the 9bars to the rest of the group that the phase "9bar-I-up" was coined. As we based in Bristol we were keen to merge our west country lingo with your tasty product"
In total they covered 752 miles in total, only a couple of minor falls and many punctures raising over £5000 has been raised for the Great Western Air Ambulance.
They told 9bar "For the final day of the trip we were joined by some of our Airbus Germany colleagues, most of them were very keen cyclists. When we arrived in Hamburg we still had some 9bars left so we shared them out with the rest of the group – We have converted part of northern Germany to the 9bar goodness."
9bars go wild in the forest -
Tris Roberts has just completed the Kielder 100 in Kielder Forest and it is 100miles entirely off road! To make it even tougher on ourselves we are doing it on single speed mountain bikes with just one gear!. Sounds a bit bonkers to us but Tris is I" a huge fan of the 9-bar bars and have converted many friends at the Derwent Valley All Terrain Club to the absolute loveliness! They make the perfect energy boost during my bike rides also as a great recovery snack afterwards with a cuppa." so he cant be that mad!
Adventure endurance
No mountain high enough for 9bar
The students and staff at Tudor Grange Academy Worcester have now returned from their Everest Base Camp Expedition. Organiser Adam told 9bar "The students did fantastically well and all made it to base camp (5360M) and some even got to the summit of Kala Phattar which was some undertaking at 3am in the morning with a -20 wind blowing for the duration. I initially issued the students with five 9bars each to take with them on the expedition and we looked into the nutritional value of the bars and discussed when they should be eaten. We eventually agreed to save the bars for the tough days, the days when we were needing some kind of comfort and a quick, energy boost. This proved to be a wise choice and the students ate them in some of the most remote places they had ever ventured. I received rave reviews from them all...to an extent they were a little down when their last bar had gone! The staff loved them too and were very thankful to have been given them for the expedition."
9Bar supports Hugh Williams-Preece all the way from Lisbon to London.
